Loved family man and small business and community advocate
Rockford - Lloyd E. Falconer, 64, of Rockford, died Tuesday morning, November 2, 2004, in his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a lengthy illness. Born April 11, 1940, in Chicago, the son of Dr. Everett G. and Vara C. (Fifer) Falconer. He graduated from Rockford West High School in 1957 and obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry at Manchester College in North Manchester, Ind., in 1961. Lloyd married Brenda (Bontrager) on June 3, 1961 in Wawaka, Ind. He first was employed by Harshaw Chemical Co. in Chicago and then Atlantic Richfield Co., in Chicago and California. In 1977 Lloyd joined Seward Screw Products, Inc., in Seward, where he became Secretary-Treasurer. As a champion of small business, he joined the National Federation of Independent Business; first with the Illinois Leadership Council and later Chairman of the National Leadership Trust and most recently sat on the National Board of Directors. His other roles in the business community included serving as President of Seward Ag Supply, Inc., President of Solarcone, Inc., member of Advisory Council on Agriculture, Labor and Small Business of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and regulatory board member of the Small Business Association, Region 5. Focused on community, Lloyd served on the Winnebago School Board for several years, was an organist and board member of the First Church of the Brethren in Rockford, member of the Rockford Burns Club, supporter of the City of Rockford Pipe Band, supporter of the Rockford area arts, and member of the Greater Rockford Area Barbershop Chorus. He loved to travel, especially to places where he could swim, scuba dive and snorkel.

First Church of the Brethren in Peoria and the Rev. Kathleen D.
Brinkmeier, pastor of First Church of the Brethren co-officiating.
Burial in Willwood Burial Park in Rockford.
Visitation
1:00pm to 4:00pm and 5:00pm to 8:00pm Sunday, November 7, 2004 in Genandt
Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago. A memorial will be established
to several philanthropies.
